In 2026, Seiko introduced four new Presage Classic Series models inspired by Tomioka silk, a premium Japanese textile produced in the Gunma Prefecture region historically centered around the Tomioka Silk Mill, a facility established in 1872 that became central to Japan’s silk industry. These new watches, arriving in a 38mm case size, translate the smooth texture and subtle sheen of Tomioka silk into a delicately textured dial finish, continuing a design theme that began with an earlier 36mm “Edo Silk” release. True to the Classic Series’ minimalist ethos, Seiko notably avoided adding a date complication to these pieces, keeping the focus entirely on the dial’s visual character. Also part of the 2026 lineup is a striking limited-edition piece marking Seiko’s 145th anniversary, featuring an Arita porcelain dial in cobalt blue, limited to 1,500 pieces. The watch introduces a newly developed case design intended to enhance the depth and dimensionality of the porcelain dial, paired with a dual-curved sapphire crystal for a clean, refined profile.
Meanwhile, the more playful Cocktail Time line continues to receive fresh additions as well, with new references offering compact 38.5mm cases, gradient-colored dials, and approachable pricing that keeps this sub-collection an easy entry point into Presage.
Presage watches are typically powered by Seiko’s proven automatic movements, most commonly the Caliber 6R51 in the current Classic Series lineup. This movement operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), features 24 jewels, and delivers a generous 72-hour power reserve, meaning the watch can sit unworn for up to three days and still be running and accurate when picked back up. Cases in the newer Classic Series releases commonly measure 38mm in diameter, with water resistance rated at 10 bar (roughly 100 meters), stainless steel construction, and dual-curved sapphire crystals featuring anti-reflective coating for improved dial clarity.
Entry-level Cocktail Time models tend to use simpler, more accessible movements and slightly more modest specifications, including a Hardlex crystal rather than sapphire and around 50 meters of water resistance, reflecting their positioning as a lower-cost gateway into the broader Presage range.
Presage occupies a middle tier within Seiko’s overall lineup, priced above entry-level Seiko 5 Sports models but generally below the brand’s most premium King Seiko and Grand Seiko offerings. Accessible pieces like the Cocktail Time series have recently launched around EUR 490, while more elaborate Classic Series and Craftsmanship Series pieces, particularly limited editions with premium materials like porcelain or silk-inspired textures, command noticeably higher prices reflecting their more intricate dial work and smaller production runs.
